Platform Porting Page


I've done a quick detail of the platforms for the games I reviewed. If I have made any mistakes please let me know.


  • 3DO - CD based 32 bit system. Games from it that are also available on the Amiga included Battle Chess, Doom, Myst, Primal Rage and Rise Of The Robots.
  • Acorn - A newer home computer system which I know little about. Games from it that are also available on the Amiga included Abuse, Descent, Doom, Doom II and Wolfenstein 3D.
  • Apple IIgs - Apple Computer's sequel to the Apple IIe and precursor to the Macintosh. Games from it that are also available on the Amiga included Battle Chess, Thexder and Wolfenstein 3D.
  • Arcade - Not a platform, this means that the game has appeared as a coin operated stand up machine. Games like this that are also available on the Amiga included Galaxian, Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, Primal Rage, Rampage, Space Invaders, Super Street Fighter II, Super Street Fighter II Turbo and Zaxxon.
  • Atari 2600 - The first Atari home game system, also called the VCS. It had custom chips that were designed by Jay Miner, the same man who designed the Amiga's custom chips. Games from it that are also available on the Amiga included Galaxian, Rampage, Space Invaders and Zaxxon.
  • Atari 5200 - The second Atari home game system. Games from it that are also available on the Amiga included Galaxian and Zaxxon.
  • BeOS - Created by a former Apple employee who tried to make his own version of the Amiga OS on a custom hardware box. Later the OS was ported to PowerMac and PC-Clone platforms. Games from it that are also available on the Amiga included Abuse, Doom, Doom II and Wolfenstein 3D.
  • Commodore 64 - The most popular home computer model ever sold. Commodore made their mark on the 8-bit world with this little wonder. Games from it that are also available on the Amiga included Army Moves, Galaxian, Highnoon, Katakis, Marble Madness, Rampage and Zaxxon.
  • Gameboy - A grayscale hand held system from Nintendo with a large following. Games from it that are also available on the Amiga included Galaxian, Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, Primal Rage, Space Invaders and Street Racer.
  • Game Gear - A color hand held system from Sega. Games from it that are also available on the Amiga included Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, Primal Rage and Space Invaders.
  • Jaguar - A CD based game machine from Atari that was relased about the same time as the CD32. Games from it that are also available on the Amiga included Doom, Myst, Primal Rage and Wolfenstein 3D.
  • Linux - A popular free OS that has been ported to a number of hardware systems, most common of which is the PC-Clone 80x86. Also available for 68k and PowerPC systems like the Amiga. Games from it that are also available on the Amiga included Abuse, Doom, Doom II, Ultra Violent Worlds and Wolfenstein 3D.
  • Lynx - A color hardheld game system from Atari, notable because it could network multiple systems for multi-player games. Games from it that are also available on the Amiga included Rampage.
  • Macintosh - A popular computer system from Apple. Originally written for 68k CPU's, it was later ported to PowerPC systems with a 68k emulation. 68k based software is easily emulated on Amiga systems. Games from it that are also available on the Amiga included Abuse, Aftershock, Descent, Doom II, Malice, Myst, Quake, Shrak, SimCity 2000, Wolfenstein 3D and X-Men: The Ravages of Apocalpse.
  • MAME - Not a platform, this means that the game has appeared as a coin operated stand up machine and was later ported to a popular multi-platform arcade emulator called MAME. Games like this that are also available on the Amiga included Galaxian, Mortal Kombat, Rampage, Space Invaders and Zaxxon.
  • MS-DOS - Probably the most common computer OS for the last 15 years. It is commonly reguarded as the lowest common denomator among computer systems, and many games eventually make it to this platform. Many other OS's have emulators for it. Games from it that are also available on the Amiga included Abuse, Aftershock, Battle Chess, Descent, Doom, Doom II, Malice, Quake, Rise Of The Robots, Shrak, SimCity 2000, Street Racer, Thexder, Ultra Violent Worlds, Wolfenstein 3D and X-Men: The Ravages of Apocalpse.
  • MSX - A popular 8-bit computer from the UK. Games from it that are also available on the Amiga included Army Moves, Galaxian and Thexder.
  • NES - The Nintendo Entertainment System or Famicon was the first cartridge based game machine from Nintendo. Games from it that are also available on the Amiga included Battle Chess, Rampage and Thexder.
  • Nintendo 64 - A cartridge based game machine from Nintendo which is popular for it's 3D video chips. Games from it that are also available on the Amiga included SimCity 2000 and Quake.
  • OS2 - An OS for PC-Clones from IBM that is noted for it's stability and multitasking. It can run many games originally written for MS-DOS. Games from it that are also available on the Amiga included Doom, Doom II and SimCity 2000.
  • Playstation - A popular CD based home game machine from Sony. Games from it that are also available on the Amiga include Descent, Doom, Doom II, Myst, Primal Rage, SimCity 2000 and Street Racer.
  • Saturn - From Sega. Games from it that are also available on the Amiga include Doom, Doom II, Myst, Primal Rage, Quake, SimCity 2000 and Street Racer.
  • SNES - The second home game system by Nintendo. Games from it that are also available on the Amiga included Doom, Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, Primal Rage, Rise Of The Robots, SimCity 2000, Space Invaders, Super Street Fighter II, Super Street Fighter II Turbo and Wolfenstein 3D.
  • Win32 - A generic term for the 32-bit variants of Windows OS from Microsoft. Games from it that are also available on the Amiga included Aftershock, Doom, Doom II, Malice, Quake, Shrak, Wolfenstein 3D and X-Men: The Ravages of Apocalpse.
