  • About The Game:

  • Synopsis: Rampage is a good example of a game ahead of it's time. Released the same year as the Amiga itself, it has outstanding resolution, generating 512x480x16 screens on the arcade version, as well as three player action. The Amiga port does it justice with three player action and a resolution of 640x200x16. It came on one floppy disk and cost $39.95. The plot is simple, you play one of three people who have been mutated into giant monsters that then procede to rampage through the city, destroying buildings and eating people. Meanwhile army tanks, troops and choppers take shots at you. If your energy level drops too low you turn back into a human and the game ends.

The biggest shortcoming of the Amiga port of this game is the fact that they made it for one button joysticks instead of two button ones like in the arcades. This means that you jump if you press the button, and you punch if you press the button while moving in a direction. This can lead to jumping when you didn't mean to and falling off of buildings unintentionally.

The story: Smash and Trash. Go ahead get it out of your system, lose your temper, smash a skyscraper, trash a city, have an office building for lunch. Go on a rampage. Includes one or two player options, choose any of three mischievous monsters to control. 147 different cities to trash. Super colorful graphics and arcade style animations.

A JST hard drive installer and patcher is available on the Aminet which makes the game useable on most Amiga systems. This game seems to run fine under AmigaUAE, which is where I got the screenshots.
