Explanation of the conversion: Skywarp and Starscream's Tech Specs seem to be switched on the packages, so I
switched them back before converting them. I decided to add a standard laser attack to Starscream's null rays and cluster
bombs. I added some physics and mechanics skills because of his science background on the television series. Although
this write-up is intended to represent Starscream in his Generation One form, it also works for him in his Cybertonian
form, as well as his Generation Two form and Devil's Due forms.
History (Dreamwave comics): Starscream was a Cybertonian scientist who was friends with Jetfire.
Starscream was one of the Cybertonians who was drawn to Megatron's gladitorial
combat. Starscream joined in the formation of the Decepticons and was made Aerospace Commander. Starscream tried to goad
a pit fighter named Grimlock into joining the Decepticons as well, but Grimlock rejected the
Decepticons.
Starscream, Skywarp and Thundercracker attacked the city of
Protihex under the orders of Megatron. Knowing that Grimlock joined with the Autobots, but was dissatisified with them,
Starscream offered Grimlock the chance to join the attack on Protihex. Grimlock rejected the offer and
not only evacuated the Autobot outpost before the attack could occur, he left an explosive trap for Starscream and
company. If not for Skywarp's ability to teleport them all to safety, the Decepticons may have not escaped alive
(Transformers: The War Within #3).
When Megatron and Autobot leader Optimus Prime disappeared from Cybertron in an accident
involving a space bridge, Starscream became leader of a splinter group of Decepticons called the Predacons, with
Motormaster acting as his second in command. The main force of Decepticons was lead by Shockwave with other factions lead by Ratbat and Bludgeon.
Six million years ago Ultra Magnus was able to unite the Autobot factions under his leadership and defeated the Decepticons
and Ultracons. Starscream attempted to use the event of the formal truce to eliminate all his rivals. He killed the
new Council of Ancients himself, but was interrupted by the return of Megatron and his new Aerospace Extermination Squad
(Transformers: The War Within - Age of Wrath #1).
Megatron took control of Cybertron, enslaving most of the Autobots and uniting all the Decepticons under his rule. Megatron
took to torturing Starscream for stealing his thunder in taking over Cybertron (Transformers: The War Within - Age of
Wrath #2).
Starscream was chosen as a member of the crew of the Nemesis when Megatron launched it to attack the Ark, an Autobot ship. Both ships fought, and after the Decepticons boarded the Ark, it crashed on the planet Earth, where all on board were placed in emergency stasis lock for millions of years.
In the Earth year 1984, a volcanic explosion awakened the Ark and it's computer, Teletran One, reformatted all on board to
be able to assume the forms of Earth machines. Starscream was reformatted in the form of an F-15 fighter jet.
Eventually the combined forces of the Autobots on Earth, and their human allies were able to capture the Decepticons. A
ship called the Ark II was built to take the Cybertonians back to Cybertron, along with some human companions, but the
ship exploded shortly after takeoff. The human allies were killed, but the Cybertonians were lost in the ocean, again in
statis lock.
Starscream and others were recovered by a rogue military unit and reprogrammed as slave war machines.
Bumblebee, Frenzy, Grimlock, Laserbeak, Prowl, Ravage, Soundwave and Starscream were forced at attack the Smitco oil
refinery in the Arctic to display their power for sale to the highest bidder (Transformer: Generation One #2).
Megatron broke
free and then freed his fellow Decepticons, including Starscream.
In 2003 the Autobots and Decepticons on Earth were drawn into conflict in Alaska, where they were interrupted by a
taskforce from Cybertron lead by Shockwave. Among Shockwave's troops were Astrotrain, Blitzwing, Broadside, Octane and Sandstorm. They announced that the war had ended on Cybertron
and that Megatron and Optimus Prime's troops were all criminals for their violent acts. Shockwave severely injured
Megatron and took the other Decepticons on his shuttle, as the Autobots retreated to the Ark. Ironhide was treated for
injuries received in the battle by Ratchet. Blitzwing joined up with a second team from Cybertron lead by Ultra Magnus,
followed by Dirge, Ramjet the Thrust. They faced the Autobots at the
crash site of the Ark. As the Decepticons traveled to Cybertron, Starscream ejected the
wounded Megatron into deep space (Transformers Generation One II #1).
Returning to Earth with the Combaticons, Starscream reformatted them into Earth-style vehicles and attacked the
Autobots remaining on Earth. Forming Bruticus, the Combaticons defeated Jazz, Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, Wheeljack and
Windcharger. Only Ratchet and Brawn escaped capture, but as they made their way back to the Ark, they discovered it's
defenses on automatic, and had to fight their way inside. Bruticus followed them and Ratchet had to destroy the Ark in
failed attempt to destroy Bruticus. Starscream eventually captured Ratchet and Brawn, right as an Autobot shuttle and
Sunstorm arrived on Earth (Transformers: Generation One III #1).
Starscream took the Combaticons to an island where they were to train with their prisoner, the Autobot Sky Lynx. They were
attacked by Predaking under the command of Megatron. Predaking defeated Bruticus and Starscream retreated to the Nemesis,
where he found Megatron waiting for him (Transformers: Generation One III #10).
Eventually Starscream was killed by Galvatron, but his spark somehow survived.
It traveled back in time to ancient Earth
where it possessed a Predacon named Waspinator. Although Starscream pretended to want to
join with the Predacon leader Megatron II, he quickly betrayed his allies. Starscream and
Blackarachnia attempted to take over the Predacons until Maximal leader Optimus Primal defeated him and sent his spark
off into space again (Possession).
Starscream makes no secret of his ambition to overthrow Megatron as Decepticon leader. He is ruthless, cold-blooded and
cruel. In that sense the two rivals are very much alike, but he has a vain side that clearly distinguishes him. He
considers himself the most sophisticated and handsome of the Decepticons. He exudes a high-class, urbane air that provides
a certain irony to his murderous tendencies. He looks down at Megatron for being antiquated in his military strategy.
Starscream believes the Decepticons should rely more on guile and speed rather than brute, destructive force to defeat the
Autobots. Megatron overlooks the potential threat Starscream represents for one very good reason: Starscream is very good
at his job.
''I will rule the universe, even if I am the only one left in the universe.'' - Starscream
Trivia: On the Transformers television show, the voice of Starscream
is played by actor Chris Latta. Besides the original form Starscream took,
later toys portrayed him as a Pretender, an Action Master and as a Generation Two toy. A miniature version of Starscream
was released in Japan. Starscream shouldn't be confused with Starscream II, a character from the Transformers: Armade
line, or Starscream III, a character from the Transformers: Cybertron line.
Powers: Starscream is highly intelligent and one of the fastest flyers of the Decepticons, reaching speeds up to
Mach 2.8. He can climb to sub-orbital altitudes of 52 miles and nose-dive down to near ground level in mere minutes. This
makes him particularly effective in surprise attacks and hit-and-run actions. He can shoot cluster bombs a distance of 40
miles, each of which can level an area 10,000 feet square. His null-ray rifle can interrupt the flow of electricity in any
circuitry it hits for periods of up to two minutes, effectively preventing the operation of many machines dependent on
those circuits during that period.
For a short time Starscream was given cosmic powers by absorbing energy from the Underbase, but gaining more of the
Underbase nearly destroyed him. Starscream later gained the Matrix, but gave it up because it tried to turn him good.
There are rumors that Starscream's spark is immortal, and cannot be destroyed.
Weaknesses: Starscream overrates himself sometimes, and finds himself in situations that are more than he can handle. His nose-dives often overload his gyro-circuitry leaving him disoriented briefly, but, overall, he is a very tough nut to crack.
