Explanation of the conversion: Although this conversion is meant to represent Optimus in his first Generation One form, it also would works for his Cybertonian and first Generation Two forms.

Optimus Prime History (Dreamwave comics): The Autobot today known as Optimus Prime was known as Optronix 9 million years ago on the planet Cybertron. Optronix joined the Autobot cause when the evil Megatron formed his Decepticon army and started a civil war on Cybertron. Optronix served as a records clerk in the Autobot capitol of Iacon and was friends with fellow Autobot Bluestreak. Optronix was gravely concerned for the future of Cybertron, when he calculated that no one would win the civil war, both sides would be wiped out by the violence if it continued.

When Megatron killed the Autobot leader, Sentinel Prime, the council of ancients choose the surprised Optronix as his successor, sensing within him an affinity for the Autobot Matrix of Leadership. Optronix accepted the Matrix, was reformatted by it, and dubbed Optimus Prime. At this ceremony, three Decepticon assassins unsuccessfully attempted to kill Optimus. Optimus ordered a planet wide evacuation of the Autobots, believing it to be the only way to ensure their survival. If the Decepticons wanted Cybertron so much, he would let them have it (Transformers: The War Within #1).

Prowl Prowl acted as advisor to Optimus. Autobots like Grimlock actively disagreed with Optimus's decision to leave Cybertron. Megatron sent Soundwave, Shrapnel, Bombshell, Kickback and Ravage, to attempt to kill Optimus and take the Matrix, but they failed, forcing Megatron to confront Optimus personally.

Optimus Prime, Cybertonian mode transformation! Megatron faced Optimus in combat deep in the planet. Damage to the Matrix resulted in it showing Optimus and Megatron images of the future, but Megatron was defeated. Optimus left Megatron alive, but injuries Optimus inflicted on Megatron caused him to loose his recent memories. The images of the future and a talk with Grimlock also had a profound effect on Optimus, who realized that the war was over more then simply one planet. He believed who won would effect the entire universe. He canceled his plans to evacuate Cybertron, deciding to stop the Decepticons before it was too late.

Seven point four million years ago Megatron and Optimus Prime were lost in an accident involving a space bridge transporter. During their time away the Autobots and Decepticons broke up into smaller factions, the main Autobot forces lead by Prowl, with Grimlock leading the Lightning Strike Coalition, Springer leading the Wreckers and Hotspot leading the Protectabots.

Six million years ago the Autobot factions were reunited under Ultra Magnus and they nearly achieved peace, when Megatron and his new Quintesson allies returned and restarted the war. Megatron enslaved the Autobots, but then Optimus Prime returned as well and freed his fellow Autobots.

Four million years ago Optimus Prime lead his ship, the Ark, to protect Cybertron from a meteor shower. Ultra Magnus was left in charge of the Autobots on Cybertron. Megatron left Shockwave in charge of the Decepticons on Cybertron as Megatron pursued the Ark. Megatron and his troops, attacked in his flagship, the Nemesis. Megatron's crew boarded the Ark, which crashed on the planet Earth where it lay dormant for 4 millions of years, the Cybertonians in emergency stasis lock.

The Ark was only disturbed briefly by a small group of Predacons and Maximals, Cybertonians from the far future. A Predacon named Megatron II first attempted to kill Optimus Prime to change the future, but was stopped by a Maximal named Optimus Primal.

Megatron II then stole Megatron's spark to grant himself more power, but again Optimus Primal stopped him and returned the spark.

The alien Vok then used Optimus Prime and the Matrix to give life to Primal Prime.

In 1984, volcanic activity reawakened the Ark. Once reactivated the Ark reformatted all on board with the ability to take on the forms of Earth machines. Optimus Prime was able to take on the form of a semi-truck.

The Autobots on Earth were later joined by the Dinobots and Aerialbots.

Eventually the combined forces of the Autobots on Earth, and their human allies were able to capture the Decepticons. A ship called the Ark II was built to take the Cybertonians back to Cybertron, along with some human companions. Optimus left a small portion of his Matrix with human Spike Witwitky, promising to return with Spike's father from Cybertron one day. The Ark II exploded shortly after takeoff. The human allies were killed, but the Cybertonians were lost in the ocean, again in statis lock.

Optimus was recovered by the U.S. military. When reports started to pop up of transformers raiding military targets, the military went to Spike hoping he could help revive Optimus. Spike, still anrgy at Optimus for the death of his father, grudgingly used the piece of the Matrix to revive Optimus.

After Spike Witwicky used a piece of the Matrix to revive Optimus Prime, Optimus traveled to the remote shoreline where he was recovered and used the Matrix to revive Jazz, Mirage, Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, Superion, Trailbreaker and Wheeljack (Transformers: Generation One #2).

Optimus and most of the Autobots returned to Cybertron to face charges after Ultra Magnus told them the war had ended. Optimus left Jazz in charge of the small number of Autobots who remained on Earth.

Once on Cybertron Optimus lead a revolution against the rule of Shockwave. Confronting Shockwave Optimus was severaly injured.

Optimus Prime was released from the cryo-regeneration chamber. He spoke of visions he had while unconscious to Arcee and Kup. He then raided Shockwave's secret lab and freed Alpha Trion (Transformers: Generation One III #13).

Optimus Prime History (television series): The Autobot today known as Optimus Prime was created as Orion Pax 9 million years ago on the planet Cybertron. Orion worked at an energy storage dock at the end of the last golden age of Cybertron. About this time a transformer named Megatron attacked and nearly killed Orion in one of the earliest battles of the great war on Cybertron. Orion only survived thanks to the work of Alpha Trion, who completely rebuilt Orion into a new, more powerful form so that he could help fight Megatron and his Decepticon forces. Orion was given the Matrix and dubbed Optimus Prime.

Four million years ago Optimus Prime lead his ship, the Ark, on a mission to find new sources of energy. Megatron left Shockwave in charge of the Decepticons on Cybertron as Megatron persued the Ark. Megatron and his troops, attacked in his flagship, the Nemesis. Megatron's crew boarded the Ark, which crashed on the planet Earth where it lay dormant for 4 millions of years, the Cybertonians in emergency stasis lock.

''If a new source of energy is not found, no one is going to win this war.'' - Optimus Prime

In 1984, volcanic activity reawakened the Ark. Once reactivated the Ark reformatted all on board with the ability to take on the forms of Earth machines. Optimus Prime was able to take on the form of a semi-truck.

Optimus Prime was killed by Megatron on Earth in the year 2005. He was later returned to life by the Quintessons.

History (Marvel comics): Before the great war broke out on Cybertron 9 million years ago, Optimus Prime participated in the Infraformers Sharpshooting Competition, along side Megatron. The competitators were both beaten by a young prototype named Sureshot.

During the great war on Cybertron between the Autobots and Decepticons, Optimus Prime a leader arose from the city of Iacon.

Optimus lead Backstreet, Overdrive and Dogfight on a mission to stop Megatron from claiming the Underbase. Although he stopped Megatron from getting the Underbase, Optimus was forced to launch it into space to keep anyone from getting it.

Optimus Prime If he had been on Earth, he would be a doctor, a mechanic, a scientist and a warrior, but on Cybertron there is no difference between these professions. So Optimus uses his skills to heal and repair - which are the same things to Autobots - to improve the world around him and, if necessary, to fight. Both in power and intelligence, he has no equal. He has the personality of an Abraham Lincoln. He can be immensely kind and his compassion extends to all that lives, including the creatures of Earth. Yet he will battle unceasingly to protect the weak and defend what he believes in. To accomplish this, Optimus knows that the Decepticons must be defeated for all time.

When Optimus learned that the planet Cybertron was threatened by a meteor shower he lead a band of his Autobots, including Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, Gears, Grimlock, Hound, Jazz, Mirage, Prowl, Sideswipe, Slag, Sludge, Sunstreaker, Swoop, Trailbreaker, Wheeljack and Windcharger, on the great ship called the Ark in an attempt to destroy the meteors. Although Optimus was successful, his ship was attacked by Megatron in his flagship, the Nemesis. In order to keep the Ark from falling to Megatron's hands, Optimus ordered it to be crashed into a nearby uninhabited planet.

Devastator on Earth in Marvel comics faces Optimus Prime. After laying dormant for millions of years the ship reactivated and reformatted all the Autobots and Decepticons on board, redesigning them to more easily survive on the new planet, Earth. Optimus was given the ability to assume the form of a semi truck.

Jetfire, Optimus Prime, Prowl and Mirage.

Under the order of Optimus Prime, Wheeljack used data taken from observing Devastator to create the Aerialbots. Blaster and his fellow Autobots from Cybertron were then captured by Circuit Breaker and her Rapid Anti-Robot Attack Team, taken to her lab and then diseceted (Transformers #21-22).

The Aerialbots

Optimus was among the united Autobot and Decepticon forces who opposed Unicron's assault on the planet Cybertron in 1991 (Transformers #75).

Trivia: On the Transformers television show, the voice of Optimus Prime is played by actor Peter Cullen. Besides the original form Optimus Prime took, later toys portrayed him as a Powermaster, Action Master and then recolored as a Generation Two toy, as a Generation Two Go-Bot and as a Generation Two Laser version. The toy for Optimus Prime is similar to that of Ultra Magnus. Optimus Prime should not be confused with Optimus Primal, a Maximal who turns into a gorilla or bat.

Optimus Prime, with energon ax! Optimus Prime Powers: Optimus Prime is incredibly strong, tough, smart and couragous. He is a storehouse of his vast knowledge. He can lift 4,000,000 lbs. and a blow from his fist exerts a force of 12,000 lbs. per sq. inch. His vision is exceptional, able to target a Decepticon from 30 miles away. Optimus is an accomplished practicioner of the Cybertonian martial art form known as diffusion. He is an excellent marksmech, an accomplished leader and skilled mechanic as well.

He carries a laser rifle and can burn a hole in the nosecone of a Decepticon jet fighter at a distance of 30 miles, aided by his outstanding visual acuity. His eyes also can function as short range blasters. Optimus's right hand can convert into a powerful energon axe. Optimus can project simple holographic maps from his eyes or headlights. Optimus can drive at over 130 mph and sometimes utilizes a standard Autobot jet pack.

Optimus Prime Optimus Prime When Optimus Prime was reformatted by the Ark on Earth he gained the ability to assume the form of a semi truck. In that form he can travel at high speeds over land. Thanks to modifications done on him by Wheeljack he can also assume a hydrofoil mode to travel over water.

His Prime module, also known as Roller, is a small cart-shaped device that he uses to unobtrusively slip behind enemy lines. He can maintain radio control over it at distances up to 1200 miles. Having Roller present somewhere is like being there himself.

Optimus Prime He can operate by remote-control his Combat Deck module up to a distance of 1500 feet. The auto-launcher mounted on the Deck can use a variety of artillery and radiation beam weapons, including most of those used by his fellow Autobots. The launcher also includes a highly dexterous grapple-arm which allows it to load itself and change its weaponry. The communications disk antenna mounted on the launcher provides a link between Optimus and all his fellow Autobots within a radius of 50 miles. It can be adapted to a satellite hook-up that increases its effective range 10-fold.

Weaknesses: Although Optimus Prime can function as three independent modules, injury to any one of the modules is felt by the other two. Roller is particularly vulnerable, especially in the behind-the-lines situations in which he specializes. However, the Optimus module is by far the most important component of the trio. Although he could survive without the other two, they could not survive without him. Otherwise, the only weakness he could be accused of having is being too compassionate and concerned about the safety of others. He would be a more effective military commander if he were more ruthless, but then he wouldn't be Optimus Prime.
